There is a place on earth where clean, fresh water pours from the sky daily. Rain water, as it is falling, pours through many layers of volcanic rock, and, in the process, is being naturally purified to it’s truest form, a perfectly balanced Ph for human consumption.
No, this is not the start of a strange fairy tale. Everything in the above paragraph is true. Mauna Loa is a small land section on the island of Hawaii where this water does fall daily. Waiakea is the name of the company that bottles this perfectly balanced water. Waiakea water naturally has a Ph level of 7.8% to 8.8%, making this slightly alkaline and near perfect. Waiakea also contains the right amount of silica (30mg) needed for efficient cognitive function. Studies have shown that daily amounts of silica may protect against Alzheimer’s.
If that were not enough, there is another thing that makes this water worth the money. Waiakea supports well digging in Africa. Their efforts are centered mainly in the very rural country of Malawi. This country has close to 17 million people, but 85% percent of them live in very rural areas with little to no access of a safe water source. Native’s life expectancies are very low (men- 57, women- 60) and infant mortality rates are very high. Daily access to fresh well water would help solve these issues. Every person there receives an estimated 15 – 20 liters a day.
Waiakea, as a company, is trying to reverse these statistics one well at a time. For every liter of Waiakea water sold, enough water is supplied to people for a week. The initial placement of the wells in communities will pay off in the generations to come. Pump Aid is the nonprofit organization that partners with Waiakea. Pump Aid’s use of an elephant pump design has been very beneficial in saving these rural communities.
