Soros vs. Trump: Soros Wins

There is such an extreme juxtaposition when you compare George Soros to Donald Trump. They are both American billionaires, but that is where the similarities end. And for a variety of reasons, I really love George Soros.

Let’s start with the superficial stuff. George Soros is worth more than $25 billion. He is on Forbes top 10 most wealthy in the world list. Donald Trump is not on that list. He is one of the world’s wealthiest individuals yet he is incredibly humble. The man is not trying to change anything with a tweet or trying to get anybody’s attention. He stays behind the scenes and allows charitable organizations to do his intended work.

Donald Trump is a total attention whore. The childish US president cannot go a day without tweeting. He is also obsessed with his inauguration crowd size and the ratings of his reality television shows. In fact, it seems as though he is more obsessed with himself and the attention that people pay to him than the operation of the United States of America.

George Soros is 86 years old and was born in 1930. He was Jewish, born in Budapest, Hungary and had to endure Nazi occupation. He was able to dodge detection with the use of false identification papers that his father procured. But this did not mean that the teenaged George Soros did not witness terrible things. Over 500,000 Hungarian Jews were exterminated during World War II.

Donald Trump, on the other hand, grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth. His father was worth well over $100 million by the time Donald Trump was a teenager. He was able to attend very prestigious private high schools and his wealth allowed him to dodge the Vietnam War draft due to “bone spurs”. Donald Trump, the self-proclaimed businessman, inherited his wealth from his father. He did not make it, did not grow it and only lost some of it.

George Soros is a completely self-made man. His family was able to evacuate mainland Europe in 1947 when they moved to London. Soros somehow got his way into the prestigious London School of Economics. He would turn that education into an empire worth more than $25 billion.

After graduating, he took a job at a merchant bank where he made connections that allowed him to raise over $12 million for a hedge fund. He immigrated to New York City in order to set that hedge fund up and to make incredibly daring trades. George Soros shorted the British pound to pull in over $1 billion in a single day. That’s when his empire started. Read more on Snopes about George Soros.

George Soros is the self-made American success story. Donald Trump is not. Yet somehow, right-wing politicians and pundits still make an enemy out of Soros.
